DREAMY MANGO STUDIOS

Dreamy Mango Studios is an independent film studio founded in October 2024 by Momina Shahzad, Seeta Mangroo, and Wanjiru Mbuthia. It was born from a shared feeling—that too many stories go untold, and too many faces go unseen on screen.
Built on collaboration and care, Dreamy Mango has grown through weekly creative meetings since its inception, guided by equal passion and a commitment to intentional storytelling. Our work blends imagination with lived experience, centering voices that are often pushed to the margins.
We officially launched in April 2025 with a celebration of original short films:
-
Murder Munchies, written by Momina Shahzad
-
The Sad Clown, written by Michael Max Wolfe
-
White Mourning, written by Seeta Mangroo, featuring an original song composed by Michael Max Wolfe and vocals by Wanjiru Mbuthia
-
The Healing Journey, in partnership with Healing in Movement - a non-profit organization on Chicago's West Side highlighting their community-centered work.
-
La Bolsa, a short film written and directed by Seeta Mangroo, which centers on the immigration process and features a majority Latine cast.
Dreamy Mango Studios exists to make space for representation and collaboration.

Dreamy Mango Studios is a Women of Color founded film collective based in Chicago. Our aim is to amplify underrepresented voices through vibrant cinematography and transformative storytelling. As of now, we are currently focused on creating short-form content, such as narrative short films and short videos for social media. We hope to expand upon this and eventually create feature length films and longer content down the line.
